The curriculum for the primary and lower secondary schools and the school programme have been changed in and we started with an in-service teacher training for science teachers two years ago. To acquire the necessary knowledge of physics that is a part of the science curriculum, the lower secondary school teachers for biology and chemistry listen plenary lectures (theoretical background and pedagogical issues) and workshops. Most of the teachers expect to receive practical advice for their future work, so the workshops with different activities, simple experiments and solving problems for the students has been extremely well accepted. The workshop where the topic was heat (in connection with a human body) will be presented. I will also present the equipment, written materials, teacher’s and school children’s experiences and their comments about this topic.
