For science on earlier stage, pictures in resources for pupils have a
crucial role since they connect science with personal experience
of children and integrate it into their everyday word. So, pictures
start with reality and go on to more and more schematic presentation
of science phenomena in which only the main science ideas are extracted.
Further, pupils should be motivated to do practical work, to present
data in a simple graphical way, to give their own answers and opinions;
this can be done with worksheets. Teachers' guide helps teachers
who usually do not have much science education: it includes scientific
background, concrete guidance through resources and suggestions and
ideas for further work. Preparation of such materials is possible
only as group work, with very much cooperation of science teachers
and experts.
Examples of such materials for some topics will be presented.
