As a consequence of the results of the TIMS-study in Austria, IMST² was founded in order to promote science teaching at school. In the course of this initiative a project about teaching the physics of flight was granted to the authors of this contribution.Within this project we performed the following tasks:
- A detailed lesson plan for such a project was composed.
- The students built and tested several models of paper-aeroplanes.
- The students produced a folder “Physics of Flight”.
- The exhibition “Otto Lilienthal” in Salzburg was visited.
- A questionnaire on attitudes was given to the students and was evaluated.
