ICT tools are today considered a privileged efficient way to amplify the horizons of the traditional scientific teaching proposal as well as supports to implement learning strategies involving practical projects that can easily improve pupils’ interest. On the other hand, results from many research papers show that often teachers need a specific formation that can help them to effectively use ICT’s innovations in their everyday pedagogic activities. Very soon, in fact, they simply try to adapt innovations to their old teaching models/schemes, making the actual pedagogic impact of these technologies less useful.
We will report the results of the experimentation of pedagogical materials, produced in the framework of the “FORM Project: Formazione degli Insegnanti di Fisica della Scuola Secondaria (High School Physics Teacher Formation)”. The main objectives of this project, developed in collaboration with several Italian university research groups, involve the building of formation models named “Formative Intervention Modules (FIMs)” and their experimentation by two (at least) two research groups. In particular, we will describe the FIM, “Pro-Term (Thermal processes)” experimented in courses of introduction to Thermodynamics of the Schools of Pre-Service Teacher Formation (SSIS) of Palermo and Naples Universities. Results of the experimentation will be reported, regarding its effectiveness in making prospective teacher aware of the main characteristics of the new approach as well as of the role and usefulness of ICTs.
